About Kumana National Park

Kumana National Park, located in the eastern region of Sri Lanka, is a renowned destination for birdwatching and nature lovers. As part of the greater Yala ecosystem, the park is best known for its large populations of migratory and resident birds. The famous Kumana Villu, a natural wetland, attracts a wide variety of species including storks, herons, egrets, and pelicans.

In addition to its rich birdlife, Kumana is also home to elephants, leopards, wild boar, and other wildlife. The park offers a serene and less crowded environment, allowing visitors to enjoy a more relaxed and immersive safari experience. The slow-paced nature of safaris here provides excellent opportunities to observe animals and birds in their natural habitats.
